March 2014 marks 10 years of Celebration of the Arts Month!

March 2014 marks ten years of Celebration of the Arts Month! MSAD51 Student Art will be exhibited at Prince Memorial Library, Atlantic Regional Credit Union and Doc’s Café & Marketplace in Cumberland.


The Public is invited to attend upcoming MSAD51 band, drama, and chorus performances:


March 6 - NYMS & GMS Band Concert / 5th-8th grades - GMS Gym, 6:30 pm

March 13 – NYMS & GMS Chorus Concert / 4th-8th grades - GMS Gym, 6:30 pm

March 14 & 15 – State High School Jazz Festival – Hampden Academy
March 18 – GHS Pops Concert – GHS Gym, 7:00 pm

March 20 & 21 – GHS Spring Play - Spoon River Anthology – GHS Auditorium, 7:30 pm

March 22 – Spoon River Anthology, Dinner Theater – 6:00 pm, reservations are required

March 22 – State Middle School Jazz Festival – Westbrook Middle School, 6:00 pm

March 25 & 27 – GMS Spring Play - The Dream Rehearsed – GMS Gym, 7:00 pm

March 28 – The Dream Rehearsed – GMS Gym, school day performance for GMS students

Celebration of the Arts Month concludes on April 1st with the Arts Alliance’s Family Arts Night at Greely Middle School, 6:00-8:00 pm. Family Arts Night events are FREE and open to everyone.


Performances to include: Sounds of Silence, Boy Singers of Maine, Greely Color Guard, Greely High School Jazz Combos, Maine Youth Orchestra & dancers from Studio of the Living Arts.


There will be hands-on art activities, GHS student lead theater games, a bake sale and a raffle featuring hand-crafted items, pottery, jewelry, and more!

Funds raised are given in the form of scholarships to two Greely seniors who will pursue study of the arts following graduation.


The student artwork exhibited at Family Arts Night is created by K-5th grade students, and is the outcome of the volunteer lead Art & Literacy Enrichment Program happening throughout the month of March at the Mabel Wilson and North Yarmouth Memorial Schools.
