Out of State Travel Information UPDATEFamilies who are choosing to travel outside the state of Maine to non exempt states should keep in mind that they will need to quarantine for 14 days or, in order to forgo the quarantine requirement, they can receive a negative Covid-19 test from a specimen taken no longer than 72 hours prior to arrival in Maine. As of 11/16/20, the following states are exempt from the need to quarantine due to the similar prevalence of Covid-19 to the state of Maine: New Hampshire and Vermont. (NOTE: The exemption for Connecticut, New York and New Jersey ended Nov. 4, 2020; the exemption for Massachusetts ended on Nov. 16, 2020) It also applies for day trips (e.g., a trip from Maine to Rhode Island for medical appointments or shopping). As the holiday season approaches, it is critically important that our school communities continue to do everything we can in order to keep our schools safe, open, and able to provide in-person instruction.
Any staff or students who have travelled to restricted states will not be permitted inside the school building until either the negative test result or 14 days has occurred. Any person who is quarantining should stay home, and not have in-person contact with others unless there is an emergency.
