To the MSAD#51 Community,
After over twenty years as the Superintendent of MSAD 51, with our graduation rates at their highest levels in the district’s history, Superintendent Robert Hasson, Ed.D. announced to the board his plan to accept the position of Assistant Deputy Director of the Maine School Management Association and Executive Director of the Maine School Superintendent Association. He has been in office since June 13, 1993.
Bob is a visionary leader who has guided our district into becoming one of the finest school systems in the state. Since he joined our district, Bob has been steadfast in his desire to create meaningful educational opportunities for all students and has been focused upon recruiting, retaining, and supporting extraordinary teachers and administrators. Under Bob’s tutelage the district has emerged as a leader in implementing innovative programs such as all-day kindergarten and the International Baccalaureate Program. We are grateful for all that he has been able to accomplish for the students who live in our two communities.
During Bob’s tenure, Greely High School was awarded U.S. News and World News’ Silver Medalist School status for four consecutive years, based upon student performance and rigorous course offerings. With a graduation rate of 96.41 percent, Greely attained the fourth highest graduation rate in the State of Maine in 2013.
The MSAD 51 Board of Directors will convene next week to devise a plan for recruiting an interim superintendent. Bob’s last day of service to the district is tentatively scheduled for November 1, 2013.
Please join me in thanking Bob for his dedicated service and wishing him well in his new endeavor.
Chairperson, MSAD 51 Board of Directors
