Unpacking the Opuda Report

Special Education Task Force

Seeking task force membership to join Julie Olsen, Director of Special Education and Sally Loughlin, Interim Superintendent to begin reading, digesting, and analyzing programming for students with special needs based on the Michael Opuda report.  Looking to have membership from approximately:

- 6 Parents/Community members who have students ranging in grades K-12

- 4 Special Education staff working in grades K-12

- 2-3 Educational Technicians

- 2 Building Administration

- 1 Board Member

The report is extensive; the goal for this task force is to focus on some initial priorities and consider action steps to be accomplished.

The task force will meet on December 16th, January 6th, January 21, and February 3rd from 5:00-6:30 pm at Greely High School.  

Draft agenda items at this time are:

  • December 16th- Overview of Opuda report, reason report was conducted, process of report, and overview of task force.  

  • January 6th- Review of key findings/ themes in Opuda report

  • January 21st- How the district has begun addressing some of the key findings and work for future years on these findings

  • February 3rd- Feedback/Thank you/ Next steps
