In December, the students and staff of the Greely Middle School and the Wilson School collected over $2,000.00 in pennies and other contributions during this year’s Penny Drive - the most ever in almost 20 years! As always, the funds were donated to the Portland Press Herald Toy Fund which raises money to assure that needy children in Maine receive toys during the holiday season. We appreciate everyone’s generosity and look forward to doing it again next year. Keep saving those pennies! Thanks! Mr. Brookes’ Class

Thank you to all of the generous members of the Greely Middle School community who donated to the Fill a Bus, Fill a Belly event. As a result, the PTO was able to donate 4,700 pounds of food to the local food pantry. Families accessing the food pantry average 50 pounds of food per visit, and approximately 116 families visit the pantry each month. The food pantry serves families from Cumberland, North Yarmouth, Pownal, and New Gloucester with 70% of the families served residing in Cumberland and North Yarmouth. Thanks to the Fill a Bus Fill a Belly campaign, 94 Families will be fed almost a month worth of food! Thank you to the MSAD #51 PTO for organizing this incredibly successful event.

Valentine's Day - Sharing the love….. Students at Greely Middle School (grades 4-8) are making Valentine's for our neighbors at Hawthorne, Drowne Road, Ledgeview Assisted Living (Cumberland), and Freeport Nursing Home. The cards are Due Wednesday, Feb. 11th to Ms. Kate Miller. Students from our special needs population will deliver the Valentine's to our neighbors on Thursday, Feb. 12th due to the fact that there will be no school on Friday, Feb 13th. Mrs. Avery will also be asking students to make Valentine's "heart chains" to decorate our school and then donate to the nursing homes or apartments. Help us spread the love by sending cards in to GMS by the 11th.     More Spotlights...
